Haven’t had my hair cut by a barber for years.
I’ve forgotten how good water sprayed from the atomizer feels as it cools the scalp; and the skin-tingling sensation of the barber’s thumb closely orbiting your head as the tips of sturdy metal scissors chill your skin while it polices stray short strands just before the ice-cold razor cleans the edges of your hairline. The eyes are left half-awake as the mind wanders at the edge of near-sleep up until the last snip and snap.
A hot towel is placed mildly on the face for a few breaths and is then pulled away in a gentle sweep that cleans the sides and the back of the ears. Then I see the bottle of green hair tonic and I close my eyes to welcome the scalp massage which then ends with a mild push to the front as the barber brings the massage down to the, back, shoulders, and the base of the neck.
And after all these years, getting all those services in one comfy go is still unbelievably reasonably priced.
